What we collect
- Account information: the Account Holder’s name, email, phone number, plan, and billing status. Payment cards are handled by Stripe; we receive billing identifiers and status, not full card numbers.
- Protected-line information: the Protected Person’s name and phone number, the assigned First Line screening number, approved-caller numbers and labels, and any optional safe word (stored encrypted).
- Call data: for screened calls — caller number, time, the screening conversation as processed live by the assistant, the screening decision and its reasons, and alerts sent to the named family member. Where transcript service is turned on for an account, the call recording and transcript for that account.
- Messages: texts to First Line numbers (such as CONNECT/BLOCK list management and STOP revocations) and family alert texts we send.
- Technical logs needed to operate and secure the service.
How we use it
Only to provide, protect, and improve the screening service for your family: screening calls, sending alerts (and transcripts, where that service is turned on), managing lists, billing, support, and security. We do not sell personal information. We do not disclose transcripts to any person other than the family member named on the account. We do not use your family’s call content for advertising.
Service providers
We use providers that handle data only to run First Line: Twilio (voice and messaging), Anthropic (AI conversation), DigitalOcean (hosting and database), Stripe (payments), Resend (transactional email), and Cloudflare (website and DNS).
Recording and transcription
Screened calls are answered by an AI assistant that identifies itself as AI at the start of the call. Transcript service is coming soon at no additional cost and is off unless an account turns it on. When it is on, the assistant also states that the call is recorded and transcribed, and the transcript is provided only to the family member named on the account. Nothing is recorded or transcribed on an account that has not turned transcripts on.
Retention
We keep family call content while the account is active and for up to 90 days after cancellation, then delete or de-identify it. Consent records are kept for four years as evidence of consent and revocation. On account closure, a recycled phone number is treated as brand-new and never inherits a prior family’s data.
Your choices and rights
The Protected Person can revoke screening consent at any time, by any reasonable means, and screening stops immediately. The Account Holder can request access to, correction of, or deletion of account data at support@firstlineanswers.com; we respond to verified requests within 45 days.
Children
First Line may protect a child’s phone line when arranged by a parent or legal guardian, who is the Account Holder and the consenting party for that line. We do not offer accounts to children.
Security
We use access controls, encrypted storage of safe words, and need-to-know internal access. No method is perfect; we will notify affected Account Holders of a breach as required by law.
Changes and contact
We will post updates on this page with a new effective date. Questions: support@firstlineanswers.com.
